Indian Institute of Science
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has announced the process for admission of the second batch of students who would be commencing their study on August 1, 2012. The application process for this batch would be completely online and would be available from February 1, 2012 until April 30, 2012.
Candidates who have completed their II PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent in 2011 and those who are expecting to complete it in 2012 are eligible to apply. The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects during their PUC / 12th Standard. Candidates who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, etc., should also have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The candidates should have a first class or 60% or an equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates).
The selection will be based on the merit lists of the following national examinations: KVPY-SA-2010 (selected as fellows), KVPY-SB (appeared in 2011), KVPY-SX (appeared in 2011), IIT-JEE (appearing in 2012), AIEEE (appearing in 2012), and NEET (appearing in 2012).

National Institutes of Technology: There are 30 NITs spread across India, in various states. The NITs at Surathkal, Warangal, Trichirapalli, Calicut are among them. List of the NITs (as of 2011) are given below. Admission to these reputed institutes is through a national entrance examination called All India Engineering Entrance Examination(AIEEE).
